About me
I am a senior R&D and innovation expert with over 25 years of experience in EU-funded projects, particularly within Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programs. My interdisciplinary background combines industrial engineering, data science, AI in health, and responsible research and innovation (RRI). I have coordinated and contributed to over 15 international projects and has served as an evaluator for Horizon Europe (Cancer Mission, HADEA-Disease-01-03), H2020 SME Instrument, and Eureka/Eurostars programs. Since my tenure at Boğaziçi University Institute of Life Sciences, I have has actively focused on ethics in scientific research, especially in health technologies and AI applications. Also, my ethics qualifications include:
- Certified in “Artificial Intelligence: Ethics & Societal Challenges” (Lund University via Coursera, 2024)
- Certified in “Evaluations of AI Applications in Healthcare” with ethics modules (Stanford University via Coursera, 2021)
- Ongoing training in “Medical Devices Regulation in Practice” (Delft University of Technology, 2025)
- Invited expert evaluator by the ERC as an ethics expert (2025)
I have also contributed to the design of ethical frameworks and impact assessments for different projects (both in Horizon and Eureka programs), particularly in health AI and data-intensive systems. I am also providing pro bono consultancy as an EEN specialist at Sabancı University Technology Transfer Office related to Horizon programs for deep tech start-ups. I am also providing support for the technology licensing of the university researchers for the life sciences.
