About me
Dr. Andreia Luis has been taking part in different collaborative projects in the biomedical and chemistry field for 10+ years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science and a master’s degree in Clinical Biochemistry from the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Andreia also holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Signal Transduction from the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. During her Ph.D. and in the course of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship, she investigated multiple organ dysfunction mechanisms upon trauma hemorrhagic shock. So far, she co-authored 13 scientific publications. In 2022, she joined the startup world as a Business Development Manager for THT Biomaterials, a startup recycling human placenta tissue into new innovative biomaterials as an alternative to animal-derived materials.
She was awarded multiple awards including the “New Investigator Award”, in 2017 by the European Shock Society and in 2019 by the International Federation of Shock Societies. In 2023, she was nominated for the LUSH Prize, the world’s highest funding award for the end of animal testing.
Currently, she is supporting the Top Female Founders Summer School, a HealthTech course organized by Boehringer Ingelheim, Coimbra University, IESE Business School, Heidelberg University, INiTS|Vienna's High-Tech Incubator, BDO Austria and Riga Stradiņš University
