Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University (LNMU), founded in 1784, is one of the oldest and largest medical universities in Ukraine and the largest medical university in Western Ukraine. Located in Lviv, the University has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence and medical training within the European educational framework. LNMU provides undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, rehabilitation and other health-related disciplines. In addition to its educational mission, LNMU delivers specialised medical and diagnostic services through its clinical departments and partner healthcare institutions. The University actively participates in the provision of tertiary and specialised healthcare, combining patient care with academic teaching and research. Currently, LNMU is developing and piloting a University Hospital model, aimed at integrating clinical services, medical education and scientific research into a unified academic–clinical ecosystem. This initiative supports the transformation of medical education in Ukraine, strengthens evidence-based practice, and enhances the quality and accessibility of specialised healthcare services. The University is also advancing: modern simulation-based medical training, rehabilitation and prosthetics programmes? international research and innovation projects, infrastructure modernisation aligned with EU standards. In the context of healthcare system reform and post-war recovery, LNMU positions itself as a strategic academic and clinical hub contributing to the modernisation of Ukraine’s healthcare system and its integration into the European research and education area.
